Dr. Arkaitz Carracedo, leader of PROTEOSTASIS WG6-Diseases and Biotechnology and Translational Projects Coordinator, organized the EMBO Conference “Translational research in cancer cell metabolism” in Bilbao (Spain) between the 4th and the 6thof October 2016. This conference brought together cancer researchers to present their work in the context of its monitoring or manipulating metabolic alterations in cancer. This 3-day conference covered established and emerging topics in the field, with an emphasis on translational research. Covered topics included autophagy in cancer, technological advances in the evaluation of metabolism, metabolic wiring in cancer, emerging concepts in cancer metabolism, organismal metabolism and cancer and novel therapeutic perspectives in cancer metabolism.
Besides the organizer, key members of the network participated as invited speakers, as for example Patrice Codogno, Jean-Ehrland Ricci and Cristina Muñoz Pinedo. Furthermore, other members of the PROTEOSTASIS network, included Early Career Investigators, attended the meeting and assessed it as an excellent networking activity.
All the PROTEOSTASIS members present at the meeting consolidated their collaborations and disseminated the network to external researchers.
